Active Weighing Solutions’ Australian-made screw conveyors and feeders are particularly useful where space is limited, accuracy is important and where the bulk material being handled is dusty orhazardous.

Pivoted Weigh Screw Conveyors and Weigh Screw Feeders meet the need where a fully enclosed, dust-tight system is required, and existing infrastructure limits the suitability of other weighing solutions. These weigh screw feeders and conveyors are very similar in function to a fully enclosed Weigh Belt Feeder or Weigh Belt Conveyor.Pivoted Weigh Screws provide acost-effective, dynamic weighing solution where existing space is limited.Engineered to suit, this dynamic weigher will deliver high accuracy outcomes for monitoring or controlling bulk material flow rates.


Pivoted Weigh Screw Conveyors and Feeders can be customised to suit many applications. In an application where continuous weighing or batching mode is required, the Pivoted Weigh Screw is fitted with an EMC MW95 controller. Where increased functionality and flow rate control is required, an EMC MW96A controller is fitted. The EMC ModWeigh display is highly customisable, readily allowing the display to be configured to suit the application.

Batching systems E.g. loading containers from a hopper using a pivoted weigh screw system to deliver a desired batched amount. Flowrate Control systems E.g. controlling product discharge from a feed hopper using the pivoted weigh screw to feed product into the process stream.

Active Weighing Solutions Pivoted Weigh Screw Conveyors and Weigh Feeders are custom engineered and built to deliver the correct material loading for the highest possibleaccuracy. Achievable accuracy in each application ultimately depends upon the characteristics of the bulk material being handled and the constraints of the specific situation. Typical Weigh Screw accuracyover the complete operating range is:
  • For free-flowing bulk materials ±0.5% or better
  • For non-free-flowing bulk materials ± 1 to 2%
  • For difficult products ± 2 to 3 %
However, examples of applications designed in house by our engineers include less than ±0.1% achieved for a free-flowing product and ± 1% with cement – known to be a very difficult product to handle.

However, it is important to understand the difference between a weigh screw conveyor and a weigh screw feeder and which is better suited for your industrial application. A weigh screw conveyor will monitor the flow rate of the material passing, whereas weigh screw feeders control the flow rate. Both applications continuously totalise the product passing through the screw and calculate the flow rate for local display or re-transmission to a PLC or SCADA system.
